Early Life
Tim was born on 25th April 1976 as the third child of William Duncan and Lone Duncan in Saint Croix, Virgin Islands. His mother died in 1990 due to breast cancer when he was just 14 years old.
During his early days, he dreamt of becoming a swimmer, but his interest quickly vanished when only an Olympic-sized swimming pool of Virgin Island by Hurricane Hugo. Then he started playing basketball on the advice of his brother-in-law and become a popular player in his school St. Dunstan’s Episcopal High School. Duncan’s height of 6 feet 11 inch quickly grabs the attention of many universities who was ready to give him a scholarship.
However, he turns down the offers of the University of Delaware and the University of Hartford by joining Wake Forest University. He played several years for the university’s team Demon Deacons. He became eligible for the 1997 NBA draft after getting a college degree.
Personal Life
Duncan has two older sisters, named Cheryl and Tricia. Tricia has competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics as a swimmer, whereas Cheryl was a swimming champion and now works as a nurse. He married Amy Sherrill in 2001, and the couple has two children, named Sydney, who was born in 2005 and Draven, who was born in 2007.
